Leadership Blind Spots

Every leader misses things. The danger is not missing something; it is believing that you don't. In this course, Eton Simon, a university director who has spent forty years researching human behavior, shows you where leaders' blind spots usually hide and how to find yours. You will learn what a blind spot really is, how to ask for honest feedback, the mental shortcuts that fool all of us, why people stop telling leaders the truth, and how to take smart risks and learn from mistakes without blame. Each lesson teaches one idea in about five minutes, with well-known, documented stories (the "invisible gorilla" experiment, Kodak and the digital camera, the Challenger launch, Alan Mulally at Ford) and clearly labelled everyday examples. Every module ends with a printable worksheet, and the course ends with your own 30-day leadership plan. This course is education. It is not therapy, and it does not promise any specific result.
