Promise changelog
Every Promise change belongs in public.
Published on May 11, 2026
The SkillsetMind Creator Promise was published on May 11, 2026. Two changes have been made since publication, recorded below. Any future change will be documented here with date, diff, and reason at least 90 days before taking effect for existing creators.
2026-09-15 — Promises 03, 04, 05 and 06 rewritten to describe how the product works today
What changed: Promises 03 and 04 described one-click export and one-click account deletion, which have not shipped. They now describe the real process: you request an export or deletion from your Account and we process verified requests within 30 days; each course's student roster can already be downloaded as a CSV, and a full self-serve export is on the roadmap. The 24-hour and 72-hour reply times in Promises 05 and 06 were replaced by the single target used across the site: we aim to reply within 2 business days (Mon–Fri). The reference to documented arbitration in Promise 05 was removed. The fee-lock in Promise 01 is unchanged.
Why: a public promise has to describe what the product actually does. These clauses described automation and reply times that were not in operation.
Effective from: September 15, 2026 for new and existing creators. This entry takes effect immediately instead of after the 90-day notice period because it removes no service a creator was receiving: the 24-hour and 72-hour reply targets, the one-click export and deletion tools, and a documented arbitration process for disputes were never actually delivered. It corrects the text to match what was always provided. Disputes with SkillsetMind remain governed by the Terms of Service.
2026-07-24 — Promise 05 replaced: “Funds protection by contract” became “We never hold your money”
What changed: course payments moved to Stripe direct charges. The buyer is now charged on the educator's own Stripe account, the educator is the merchant of record, and SkillsetMind takes its platform fee at the moment of the charge. The previous 30-day platform clearing period was removed, because SkillsetMind no longer receives or holds sale proceeds at all. Affiliate and co-producer revenue splits were removed with it: a platform that never touches the money cannot divide it.
Why: a promise to protect funds held by SkillsetMind is weaker than not holding them. Removing custody removes the failure mode the old promise was written to cover.
Effective from: July 24, 2026 for new creators.
Effective for existing creators: July 24, 2026. The 90-day notice period did not apply, because the change took effect while no creator was selling under the previous promise, and because it removed a platform hold rather than adding one.
